Venue & Safety Information - Outdoors

Below are some guidelines and safety measures for outdoor set ups, to make you more aware of general risks and hazards to look out for when planning where the soft play equipment or bouncy castles will go. We'll always do our best to set up in a safest way possible at our venue.

Set Up Area for Soft Play Hire

The area where the play equipment to be set up needs to be clean and clear before our arrival to deliver.

If grass needs to be cut, please do so a few days before the event date and rake it all off.

It's best to set up the play area in the middle of a space - away from fences and trees - the clearer the space, the lower the likelihood of children tripping and falling into items.

Clear the space of all animal mess.

On Sunny Days

Most of the play equipment (in particular, inflatables and soft play) will get extremely hot when set up under direct sunlight. It is advisable to use a marquee or gazebo for protection (with soft play).

Inflatables with rain/sun roofs will be cooler than those without.

Also consider sunscreen protection for all the children and encourage wearing socks, sun hats and lots of water consumption.

Bouncy Castles and Inflatables

To comply with HSE Regulations, all our bouncy castles and inflatables are tested yearly by a competent person to ensure they comply with BSEN14960.

To provide suitable anchorage, we will only set up on grass (real grass) so that we can peg in properly, or indoors. We can not set up inflatables outdoors on concrete or other surfaces as the required 163 kg of weight per anchor point is unattainable on a standard van.

Low hanging branches will need to be trimmed or the inflatable situated elsewhere as branches will rub against the inflatable and cause damage. If it is a bouncy castle with no roof, will children be able to climb the tree and jump on to the bouncy castle?

Clothes lines may also need to be removed if in the way of the inflatable.

Think safety:

  • Power source for the inflatable so that wire are not a trip hazard,
  • Entrance and exit of the bouncy castle - will children collide in to anything if they fall out of the bouncy castle?

The above is not exhaustive but helps as a guide when deciding where to set up the play area that we bring. We're dedicated to the safety of your children and their guests and taking the above in to consideration really aids with that.
