Weather Policy
Last Reviewed August 2025
We proactively monitor weather forecasts leading up to your hire date. If we foresee potential weather issues that may impact your event, we will endeavour to contact you at the earliest opportunity to discuss options and potential accommodations, provided sufficient notice is available. This policy only applies if you've hired all the play equipment to be used outdoors. If part of the play equipment is hired to be used indoors, our standard Cancellation Policy applies.
Our Safety and Legal Obligations (Inflatables and the Law)
Due to strict safety regulations, the use of inflatables is particularly sensitive to weather conditions. When setting up inflatables, we are bound by the HSE regulations, specifically BSEN:14960:2013. It specifies the weather conditions in which inflatables can be set up outdoors.
In accordance with BSEN:14960:2013, the maximum wind speed in which inflatables shall be used outdoors is 24 mph, and includes gust speeds.
If the predicted gust/wind speed is 24 mph or higher, we will not be able to set up any inflatables outdoors and will cancel the booking, with 72 hours notice. This is to allow us to rearrange logistics and personnel. Not only is this a a safety precaution, but a legal requirement. We have to ensure that all inflatables we set up outside are secure and unmovable by winds.
In such cases, we will endeavour to offer alternative indoor equipment, credit towards a future booking (subject to availability and suitability), or a refund.
Be aware that weather forecasts aren't always accurate – 24 mph winds can be predicted for the hire date, and the weather on the day is perfect for inflatables. You are welcome to call us on the day to see if it is possible to accommodate your party times. Please note that last-minute changes may incur additional logistical fees or may not always be feasible due to staffing and scheduling commitments, but we will always do our best to assist.
We will try to give you as much notice as possible, and keep you up to date with weather updates so that alternative play equipment can be arranged if required. We keep a close eye on gust and wind speeds in the run up to your event date however, these speeds are sometimes only predicted on the morning of the day.
Weather Specific Cancellation Allowance
In addition to our standard Cancellation Policy, we offer specific allowances for cancellations directly necessitated by severe and unsafe weather conditions. This policy is in place to ensure the utmost safety of all participants and to protect the integrity and longevity of our play equipment, and the well-being of our staff.
Conditions for Weather-Related Cancellation for Refund (minus £50 admin fee):
Official Severe Weather Warning: A valid and current "Amber" or "Red" weather warning (or equivalent severe warning from the Met Office or a similar official national meteorological service) must be in effect for the event's location and duration. This warning must specifically advise against travel or outdoor activities due to conditions such as:
- High Winds: Warnings for dangerously high winds that could compromise the safety of inflatable equipment.
- Torrential Rain/Flooding: Warnings for heavy rainfall leading to potential flooding that makes the venue unsafe or inaccessible.
- Thunderstorms/Lightning: Warnings indicating severe thunderstorms with a high risk of lightning during the event time.
- Extreme Cold/Snow/Ice: Warnings for conditions that make travel unsafe or outdoor equipment use hazardous (e.g., icy surfaces, heavy snow).
Timing of Cancellation: The decision to cancel due to such a warning must be communicated by the Hirer via email at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to the scheduled event date.
Cancellations due to weather warnings made less than 72 hours before the event will be subject to our standard Cancellation Policy, resulting in no refund.
Refund Amount: If these conditions are met, a full refund of the total hire fee will be provided, minus an administrative fee of £50. This fee covers initial booking, administrative, and pre-logistical costs.
Please Note:
- This allowance applies only when official, severe weather warnings directly impact the safety and feasibility of the event. General forecasts for light rain or moderate winds do not qualify.
- We reserve the right to verify all official weather warnings.
- In all other weather scenarios, our standard cancellation policy applies. We recommend considering suitable shelter for unforeseen circumstances not covered by our policies.
